HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR FUR PRODUCTS
Fur hats, mukluks, gauntlets and other fur accessories are made to keep you warm! The properties of fur products are such that, even when wet, they will insulate you against the cold. But fur requires care, even with normal use. Properly cared for, your fur product will last you a lifetime, if not a generations!
EVERY DAY WEAR:
Fur and leather need to be kept away from chemicals of any kind. Make-up, perfume, hairspray and other similar chemically based agents will be absorbed by fur, and will stain and dry out your product. Odors will also be absorbed and linger indefinitely. In order to maintain your fur, keep it away from any such chemical agents.
If your fur is combined with leather, simply wiping the leather with a lightly dampened cloth will remove most any dirt. Suede or split leathers may also be wiped, or brushed out with a suede brush. Suede or leather may be protected with any naturally based, odorless leather or suede protector, as long as it is not a spray application, and applied without touching the fur.
When wet, place your fur in an open area with good air circulation, and no direct light source. Allow it to dry out completely. Do not use any drying apparatus (such as a blow dryer or radiator), or place your fur too close to any heat source. When dry, usually giving your product a good shake or two will restore it to its original look. If necessary, you may brush out the fur with a good quality pet brush, brushing lightly along the direction of the fur.
STORAGE:
Store your fur on a shelf in a room or large closet with some air circulation and no direct light. Fur cannot be washed or dry cleaned; If your fur product requires cleaning, take it to a professional fur cleaner.
